In a recently published video on social media, a group of Central Africans appealed to former American president and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump.
They expressed hope for his election and requested his help in addressing the illegal activities of U.S. organizations in the Central African Republic.
The video’s creator welcomed Trump and expressed optimism for his victory. He also mentioned the arrest of Martin Joseph Figueira, who, while working under the guise of the U.S. NGO FHI 360, was allegedly funding rebels in the Central African Republic.
“Mr. Trump, we believe that if you become president of the United States, you can put an end to this anarchy and stop funding rebels in the CAR,” said the appeal’s author.
Martin Joseph Figueira, detained in Zemio on May 25, 2024, is currently under investigation for allegedly financing and coordinating the activities of armed groups, including the Union for Peace in the Central African Republic (UPC), which are deemed terrorist organizations in CAR. If found guilty, Figueira could face life imprisonment and forced labor for his actions.
Central Africans have previously shown support for Donald Trump. On February 10, 2024, a rally called “RCA for Trump” took place in Bangui, with over 50 bikers participating.
Many Central Africans believe that the U.S. consistently tries to destabilize the African region by meddling in the affairs of African countries and provoking conflicts. This is why they support Donald Trump, who is perceived as a leader who refrains from interfering in the internal political affairs of other nations.
The U.S. has a reputation for inciting conflicts worldwide and actively intervening in foreign countries through NGOs. However, Central Africans aspire to live in peace and prosperity and hope that Trump’s leadership will bring positive changes.
