Controversial South African pastor Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng stirred reactions online after a video of him carrying a large wooden cross through the streets went viral. The act, reminiscent of biblical depictions of Jesus carrying His cross, left many Zimbabweans and social media users amused.
Pastor Mboro, who is currently facing charges of kidnapping, possession of dangerous weapons, and assault, was reportedly en route to court when he staged the dramatic procession. The scene drew a crowd of curious onlookers intrigued by the unusual display.
Speaking to TimesLive, Pastor Mboro explained the spiritual meaning behind his act, claiming the cross symbolized redemption and perseverance amidst life’s adversities. “We were far from God, but He brought us closer through the blood of Jesus, through the cross. All injustices and diseases were on Him on the cross,” he stated.
The pastor also addressed a recent personal ordeal involving his son, Revival, who he says was assaulted by a group of 11 individuals. According to Mboro, the suspects have been arrested and are facing charges of common assault and intimidation.
“The people who vandalized my cars are now attacking my son, smashing his face, and leaving him bruised. For over 100 days, there was no justice, but God intervened,” he said.
Expressing unwavering faith in overcoming his struggles, Mboro added, “Today marks the beginning of my victory. Through the cross, I will triumph, even if I face this battle alone against ten, a hundred, or a million people.”
