President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has highlighted his administration’s economic achievements, emphasizing significant growth in Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) since he assumed office in 2017.
During an interactive session with organized labour, professional associations, and quasi-members of the Trades Union Congress of Ghana in Accra on December 3, Akufo-Addo revealed that Ghana’s GDP has expanded fourfold under his leadership. He noted, “It has been a productive eight years, marked by the fastest growth rate of 8.3 percent pre-COVID and a systemic expansion of GDP that has multiplied by four since I took office.”
Expressing gratitude for the support received during his tenure, the President described serving two full terms as an unparalleled honor. He also praised Ghana’s enduring peace and stability amidst growing threats of terrorism across the Sahel region, attributing this to strong collaboration between the government, organized labour, and professional groups.
Akufo-Addo noted that his administration’s relationship with organized labour has been defined more by cooperation than conflict, resulting in notable achievements such as Ghana’s internationally recognized handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
