President Bola Tinubu has shared practical advice for Nigerians on reducing electricity costs, encouraging citizens to switch off lights when not in use.
Speaking during a media session in Lagos State, the president emphasized his stance against price control, stating, “I don’t believe in price control; we will focus on increasing market supply instead.”
Since assuming office, Tinubu’s administration has implemented significant changes, including raising electricity tariffs and removing the fuel subsidy.
On April 3, 2024, the electricity regulator increased tariffs for Band A customers from N66 to N225 per kilowatt-hour, a move that sparked widespread criticism due to the added financial strain on Nigerians.
