The creation story found in the Bible is just a made-up fantasy, according to Eric Donaldson, a legendary figure in the reggae music genre.
The 75-year-old Jamaican singer claimed that the Bible is “a con” in a special interview that was aired on the Taxi Driver program on Class91.3FM on Monday, July 18, 2022. The conversation was hosted by Blakk Rasta.
“I have no idea who you refer to as a Christian. The Bible that they give us to read, which is supposed to purify and sanctify you, said in the preface when I opened it: “This guide was translated out of the unique tongues and it’s from a translation diligently compared and revised by Her Majesty’s Particular Command King James, appointed to be learned within the church.” I don’t worship Jesus Christ for two reasons—more than two reasons, but I see that is obviously not for me. It is intended for churchgoers. It’s a scam,” he declared.
“Then, in Genesis 1: ‘In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth and the earth was without form and void’, meaning there was nothing; ‘and darkness was upon the face of the deep and God said: ‘Let there be light and there was light”
“Now, tell me; where was that particular person who heard God say: ‘Let there be light and there was light? Meaning he was there earlier than God. That story is fictitious, not true”, he argued.
Requested by Blakk Rasta what religion he subscribes to, Eric Donaldson, who is currently in Ghana to perform ‘Hands Across Africa’ reggae show, said: “I picture myself. It’s me and my creativity because I am aware that the spirit of God resides within every human.…”
“don’t let the powers that be, which is the Christian philosophy drive you out of your thoughts, drive you out of your self as a result of an individual who is not in his personal self is like a metropolis that has been damaged down and has no partitions round him to guard it. Keep in your self”, he suggested.
