According to John Dramani Mahama, the late John Evans Atta Mills, the former president of Ghana, would have handled the country’s present economic mess better if he had been in charge.
The late former president, according to the former president, would have done better by putting a human face on things rather than the incumbent’s, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and his officials’ attempts to minimize the severity of sufferings in the nation.
Speaking at a gathering held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to commemorate John Evans Atta Mills’ demise ten years ago, John Mahama.
Knowing Professor Mills well, I am confident that if he had faced these issues while in charge of our nation, he would not have chosen the route of obstinacy and denial. He would have made a decision out of respect for the Ghanaian people and assumed responsibility for resolving the issues.
“He would have implemented essential reforms and corrected costs. He wouldn’t have tried to place the blame on others and would have treated Ghanaians with tremendous care. He wouldn’t have debated with his own people, the ones he controls and who are experiencing the sufferings, and come up with the most convoluted and improbable explanation for why they are doing so.
He remarked, “Those to whom the people of Ghana commit their mandate have much to learn from this outstanding politician of hallowed memory.
