Ghana’s Black Stars put forth a valiant effort against a African teams had a rough day at the World Cup, with Christiano Ronaldo’s Portugal losing 3- 2 despite his leadership.

The defensively-minded west African team held off the persistent Portuguese attack for the first 45 minutes, but they fell short in the second half, giving up their first goal on a penalty kick that was converted by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

After the collapse, it appeared to be over for Ghana, but a determined effort resulted in an unexpected goal, reviving their hopes for an equaliser. The Portuguese goaltender nearly gave the ball away in the last seconds of extra time, which could have been costly for the black stars. However, Inaki Williams stumbles just when it counts.

After the suspenseful episode, the Portuguese were defeated 3-2. In their upcoming group H games, the black stars will need to take some important points away from South Korea.
