As a group of four African leaders started their peace mission to arbitrate between Ukraine and Russia, explosions rocked Kyiv and air raid sirens sounded.

The entourage will travel to Saint Petersburg to speak with President Vladimir Putin after meeting with President Zelenskyy in Ukraine.

The commander of the Ukrainian ground forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, calls the situation in Bakhmut “tense” and asserts that Russia is bringing its best combatants to the fray.

According to the Kremlin, Putin is still available for talks to resolve what he reportedly referred to as “the Ukrainian problem.”
