The Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has decried the non-respect of anti-COVID-19 barrier measures in markets and other public places at a time when the country is witnessing a second wave of the pandemic with the new variant.

During an inter-ministerial meeting to evaluate Governmentโ€™s response strategy yesterday April 8, the Prime Minister instructed administrative and municipal authorities to ensure the strict application of anti-COVID-19 barrier measures in markets, bars, supermarkets, travel agencies and other public places where the population seem to care less about their health.

Speaking on the epidemiological situation of the country as far as the deadly virus is concerned, the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda said to date, Cameroon has recorded 61,731 cases, among which 56,926 have already been confirmed healed, and 919 unfortunately passed away.

The country counts 3,886 active cases with 114 under oxygen.

The population has been called upon to be more careful and strictly respect barrier measures.
