It has been a black Wednesday night in Bamenda, capital of the restive North West Region after several houses were set ablaze.
According to sources, houses were set ablaze around the Mbengwi road in Bamenda by men in military attire who as several residents fled to the bushes for their safety. Some residents are said to have received burns as a result of the incident. We cannot independently confirm reports dozens of persons have been killed so far.
Some residents have described the act as retaliation from the Cameroon military after earlier attacks in the area by separatist fighters. Some sources add that heavy exchange of fire was heard late on Wednesday evening between the separatists and soldiers.
