A 57-year-old man was sentenced to seven years in prison for sodomy by the Kapiri-Mposhi Magistrates’ Court.
Evans Lukwesa, a tailor from the Soweto Northpark compound, was charged with one count of the offence.
On April 8, 2022, Lukwesa stood before Magistrate Kasonga Mulilo and pleaded not guilty to the accusation.
According to the facts, Lukwesa was accused of indecent practice with a 16-year-old child who had gone to seek enlargement of his manhood on unknown occasions between March and April 2022.
Lukwesa then took advantage of the 16-year-old victim by sodomizing him, in violation of section 158 sub-section 1 of the Zambian Penal Code capter 87.
Lukwesa pleaded with the court to be lenient because he was a first-time offender.
Magistrate Mulilo decided Lukwesa’s actions were not persuasive enough, therefore he sentenced him to seven years in jail with hard labor, starting from the date of his arrest.
