These two regions’ populations are deprived of dietary resources. According to a poll conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, this is the case.
Cameroon’s South West, North West, and Far North areas are experiencing socio-political unrest. And the ramifications did not disappoint. Currently, 23% of the population in these three regions suffers from acute food insecurity.

The data comes from a study conducted between January and March of 2022. The survey is carried out as part of the identification of risk regions and the population in food and nutritional insecurity by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minader.

According to the latter, a total of 6,082.234 individuals are vulnerable to food insecurity, with 2,865.906 million people experiencing food insecurity. Another 253,853 people are in a state of emergency, while 2,612,054 people are in a crisis.
According to the report, this condition is the result of issues such as the socio-political crisis, which extends as far as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Climate change also presents itself in the form of inadequate rainfall, pachyderms destroying crops, and grain-eating birds.

However, there are remedies available. For example, the Minader agents recommend reconstituting and boosting the means of production in key industries. Maize, rice, sorghum, plantain, and potatoes are some of them.

Furthermore, the paper emphasizes that fighting food insecurity in Cameroon necessitates accelerating the popularization of wheat production in target basins such as Bambui in the north-west and other regions. Wassandรฉ, for example, is in Adamaoua, Bansoa is in Menora, and Bangourain is in Noun.
