Victor Olunloyo, a former governor of Oyo, has passed away.

Olunloyo, who was 87 years old, passed away on Friday following a brief illness, according to information obtained by Advertafrica.net. He passed away in an Ibadan, Oyo state, hospital.

It was learned that the former governor, a mathematician, had just fallen ill and was undergoing medical care.

 

After defeating the incumbent, Bola Ige of the Unity Party of Nigeria, he was elected governor of the former Oyo State in 1983 on the platform of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) (UPN).

When General Muhammadu Buhari assumed office and ousted the elected administration on December 31, 1983, Olunloyo’s mandate came to an end three months later.

The controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo’s father is a former governor.
