Congolese NBA player Bismack Biyombo tried to cheer up the young people back home during a visit to Goma, the capital of the North Kivu province of the Congo, on Saturday despite the unrest there.
The 29-year-old center for the Phoenix Suns urged Congolese to band together for the benefit of their nation, which has endured armed conflicts for more than 20 years.
“Since I was once a youngster just like these ones, it is pleasant to be with them in this lovely sun and inspire them. I am confident that they will perform better than what we do to survive. They must do it with our assistance, “Biyombo stated.
During the first basketball camp he organized in the Congo since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, Biyombo formally presented a brand-new field to his fellow citizens.
“His advise was very helpful to us. He demonstrated for us how basketball is played. Most importantly, he gave us motivation to keep working toward our objective “Gloria Asifiwe, a basketball player from Goma who is 15 years old, remarked.
The Biyombo Foundation promotes health, education, and athletics in Congovian communities. The company has established academies in Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, and Kivu.
