Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is now in power, has denounced the recent threat to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari made by the minority MPs in the National Assembly.
Recall that minority senators gave President Buhari six weeks to solve the nation’s widespread insecurity last week or face impeachment.
Following a meeting of the PDP caucus in the National Assembly, the PDP caucus in the House of Representatives likewise agreed to the six-week deadline.
Some APC senators have backed the impeachment motion, despite the presidency calling the possibility of impeachment “babyish antics of the opposition.”
In an interview with Trust TV on Tuesday, Senator Adamu said that the parliamentarians’ attempt to remove President Buhari from office was a regrettable occurrence.

The minority MPs who made the threat of impeachment, according to the APC chairman, no longer intend to follow through.
“Impeachment was a very regrettable development that is no longer on,” he said. We anticipate that the National Assembly will take a knock. Every democracy experiences it, everywhere. As soon as you get on it, you begin hammering it repeatedly. Even the original organizers are no longer following that path.
In response to the current ASUU strike, Adamu said that while his party valued the Muhammadu Buhari administration, he hoped that ASUU would be reasonable in their demands.
“I am aware of and grateful for the efforts being made by the administration, and it is my hope that ASUU will work with the government to make this a reality. So that we may have a meeting place and provide our kids and parents comfort,” he said.
