The savage killing of a police officer on Ricketts Avenue in Kingston 13 on Saturday, October 15, is being denounced by the Police High Command. A 10-year-old was among the four others who were shot and injured.

Constable Brian Martin, a 22-year-old Ricketts Avenue resident working out of the Half-Way Tree Police Station, has been confirmed as the officer.

According to reports, about 10:00 pm, a group of people attending a wake in the neighborhood included Constable Martin when armed guys arrived and started shooting. Constable Martin and four other people were rushed to the hospital, where Constable Martin passed away while receiving treatment, while the other four were admitted in stable condition.

The top leadership of the constabulary offered its sympathies to the bereaved constable’s family, friends, and coworkers in a statement released on Sunday. The JCF added that it is determined to carrying out a careful inquiry into the circumstances leading up to his homicide.

“This most recent attack won’t stop the police. They will keep concentrating on getting rid of the gangs, guns, and shooters who continue to wreck havoc in communities, according to the high command.

“In addition, we will pursue those offenders relentlessly until they are brought to justice.”

Crime Stop at 311 or the Police 119 emergency line are also recommended to be used by anyone with information that could help with this inquiry.

The Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Department of the force are offering assistance to Martin’s family, friends, and coworkers.
