On Thursday morning, the Black Stars of Ghana defeated Switzerland 2-0 in a friendly prior to the World Cup.

In their penultimate game before the World Cup begins on November 20, the Black Stars earned a well-deserved victory thanks to goals from Mohammed Salisu and Antoine Semenyo in the second half.

At the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu-Dhabi, the Black Stars largely controlled the game, but it took until the 70th minute for that dominance to be realized.

Defenseman Mohammed Salisu was able to beat Yann Sommer with a looping header after the Swiss failed to deal with a corner from substitute Daniel-Kofi Kyereh.

Four minutes after Kamaldeen Sulemana’s run caused some mayhem in the Swiss box, Otto Addo’s team extended their lead.

Antoine Semenyo eventually received the ball as it broke, and he scored.

Prior to that, the Swiss team, who started the game with their strongest available side, barely presented a threat to Lawrence Ati-Zigi in the Ghana goal.

Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus were able to sit out of the Black Stars’ World Cup group match against Portugal because the match was still seven days away.

Elisha Owusu, Salis Samed, and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s performances in particular, as well as the team’s overall performance, would have thrilled Ghanaians, who were unsure of how the new additions would perform in the team.

Otto Addo and his players are in excellent spirits as they prepare for their match against the Portuguese on November 24 after eliminating one of Europe’s most entertaining teams.
