The 73rd graduation ceremony at Makerere University, one of the most famous colleges in Africa, will begin today, Monday, February 13, at Freedom Square on the main campus in Kampala. Cell phones are not permitted on campus, according to the university’s administration.

Mobile phones, cameras, video cameras, dangerous weapons (such as guns), chemicals, alcohol, cigarettes, canned foods and drinks, bottled drinks, backpacks, lighters, glasses, and knives are among the items that the Ceremonies Committee’s chair, Prof. Patrick Mangeni, said were prohibited from the venue.

The ban was not justified in any way.

There will be 13,221 graduates, and each one is only permitted to invite two guests.

The graduation will begin on Monday with students from the colleges of Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, and School of Law, according to the official schedule that this website has access to.

Graduates from the colleges of Education and External Studies, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences will be recognised tomorrow (Tuesday);

While graduates from the colleges of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources, and Bio-Security, Computing and Information Sciences, and Business and Management Sciences will take the stage on Wednesday.

According to local media, the Makerere University Business School will graduate its students on Thursday in a variety of disciplines, and the ceremony will be completed on Friday by graduates from the colleges of humanities and social sciences, engineering, design, and arts and technology.

Janet Museveni, the first lady and minister of primary education, is expected to grace the occasion.
