Men who are under pressure from the craze to purchase their female lovers money bouquets needed to be rescued.

Dominic Owusu, Director of the Currency Department of the central bank, warned the public against the misuse of the Ghana cedi, which is formed like flowers and given as gifts, during a press conference on Thursday, March 30, 2023.

โ€œIn recent times, you see people using the currency for bouquets and then sometimes when they want to do presentations, they use the currency to do designs in baskets, hampers. It is against the Bank of Ghana policyโ€ฆdesist from such acts, it is not in line with the policy so you must stop it. If you want to give a present, go and buy gifts. Donโ€™t go and buy bouquets and do it,โ€ he cautioned.

In response to the news, young men described how they had fallen prey to “money bouquets.”

They exposed how their girlfriends and spouses want “money bouquets” as gifts on major occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, and even when they propose marriage in trending tweets.

A Twitter user, @1Obama_ wrote: โ€œBank of Ghana saving boys from pressure Chaley that money as bouquets and hampers for gifts thing never dey make sense.โ€

Money bouquets are becoming more and more popular as people choose to give them as gifts rather than flowers or hampers.

This project has resulted in the growth of small enterprises. Around Valentine’s Day, money bouquet producers report a spike in orders and sales.
