Seun Kuti, a singer, was seen on camera shoving and slapping a policeman during a dispute at the Third Mainland Bridge.
Although it’s unclear what sparked the altercation, the policeman maintained his composure when the singer addressed him.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, to place Kuti under arrest.
The IGP has also mandated a prompt and thorough investigation into the immediate and underlying cause(s) of the assault and subsequent prosecution of the suspect, according to a statement made by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force.

The political activist and singer, has recently set the record straight on the incident. Though he declined to specify what exactly sparked the altercation, Seun Kuti said that the police had attempted to kill him and his family.
He persisted in urging Nigerians to attend to their own affairs so that the policeman wouldn’t lose his job because he has proof to support his claim.
