Following many airline complaints, the use of “Ghana Must Go” travel bags by passengers at Nigerian airports was outlawed.

This follows a letter from Ethiopia Airline to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s (FAAN) regional manager.
A circular from FAAN titled “Re: Prohibition of Usage Of Ghana Must Go” and signed by Henok Gizachew, Manager of Airport Services, on November 24 states that travelers using the nation’s international airports are specifically prohibited from doing so.
According to Gizachew, the sack was outlawed by the authorities since it caused significant losses for the airlines and harm to the conveyor belt equipment at the airport.

He noted that passengers who wish to use Ghana Must Go to travel must have the bags well packaged in carton or hardcover of rectangular size.
The circular reads: “Please be informed that effective November 25, 2023, the use of Ghana Must Go to travel on our flight is hereby prohibited.
“The use of Ghana Must Go as a means of packaging baggage has cost the airlines huge loss and also damaging the conveyer belt system, not only on our flight but also on other foreign airlines, hence the prohibition.”
In 2017, Dubai introduced the same rule, tagging Ghana Must Go bags “non-compliance baggage”. Also in 2017, Air France banned the use of Ghana Must Go bags.
