The toxicology examination conducted in the United States to determine the cause of death of the late music sensation, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has been completed. Lagos State counsel, Oluwaseun Akinde, affirmed this during a session at the coronerโ€™s court situated in the Ikorodu area of the state in November 2023. Akinde clarified that while the autopsy focused on the external body, the toxicology test delved into the internal body.

Mohbad tragically passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, sparking contentious discussions on social media regarding the circumstances surrounding his demise. In response, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-member special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to delve into the singer’s death.

According to PUNCH, a representative of the Lagos State Government disclosed that the test results were recently forwarded to the state DNA and Forensic Centre. The source, speaking on anonymity, further mentioned that the results were subsequently transmitted to the police earlier this week.

โ€œThe toxicology test is ready and given to the police. We projected 10 weeks from the outset but it came in before then. It was received by the DNA and Forensic Centre last week and has been sent to the police,โ€ the source said.

Another source at the police reportedly said,

โ€œThe toxicology report is with us. It arrived on Monday but it is medical jargon for us. We donโ€™t understand what it is. So it has been sent to the pathologist that carried out the autopsy to analyze and interpret it.โ€

Keep in mind that Richard Somiari, the Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, announced on March 20 that the toxicology findings would be available within the subsequent three to four weeks.

Somiari, while testifying during a coronerโ€™s inquest into the death of the singer said, โ€œWe expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of the death.

โ€œWe searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned,โ€ he said.

โ€œWe have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,โ€ he said.
