Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are reportedly planning a visit to Nigeria to engage in the country’s cultural activities, as per a report from the Daily Mail. Their trip to Nigeria is scheduled shortly after Prince Harry’s visit to the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The royal couple, who are currently non-working members of the royal family, are expected to tour Nigeria unofficially after accepting an invitation from the country’s Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Gwabin Musa, during their visit to Germany in September of the previous year. During their visit, they will meet with service members and their families and partake in traditional cultural events.
According to local newspaper reports, the acceptance of the invitation by Harry and Meghan, marking their inaugural visit to Nigeria as a couple, has been met with honor and delight by the country’s defence headquarters.
Meghan’s revelation in 2022 that she discovered she has Nigerian heritage, comprising 43 percent, through a genealogy test conducted a few years ago, adds an additional layer of significance to their upcoming visit.
Meghan expressed her intention to delve deeper into her Nigerian roots during a conversation on her podcast, Archetypes, with Nigerian-American comedian Ziwe Fumudoh.
The visit to Nigeria is scheduled shortly after Harry’s return to Britain for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
