Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has responded to Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar’s public apology for her defamatory
In a brief post on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Suleman emphasized that while forgiveness has been extended, it does not mean the situation will be forgotten, stating, “You all stop calling my phone. Forgiveness is not memory loss! Status quo maintained!”
This response followed Abubakar’s public apology, where she admitted to making “false and hurtful” statements against the cleric.
In her Instagram post, Abubakar expressed deep regret for the pain caused by her accusations and sought forgiveness from Suleman and his family. She acknowledged that her actions were the result of poor judgment, adding that her apology was prompted by “deep reflection and conscience.”
The feud between the two began in 2022 when Abubakar alleged on social media that she had been in a romantic relationship with Suleman. The cleric threatened legal action, labeling her claims defamatory. The controversy escalated in 2023 when Abubakar further alleged she had been pregnant three times with Suleman’s child.
In April, a Federal Capital Territory High Court ordered Abubakar to pay N10 million in damages for her defamatory statements and instructed her to issue a public retraction on her Instagram account, as well as cease any further derogatory remarks against Suleman.
