First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu are set to lead a national prayer event to address Nigeria’s critical challenges.
The initiative, organized by the National Prayer Forum (NPF) with support from Christian and Muslim leaders, seeks divine intervention for the country’s economic, security, and social issues.
At a press briefing in Abuja, NPF Director General Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan introduced the event under the theme “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs,” highlighting unity and collective prayer as essential to overcoming national difficulties.
The prayer sessions will be held at two key locations. At the National Mosque in Abuja, 313 Muslim participants will engage in seven days of Qur’anic recitations, aiming to complete 2,191 recitations in a united call for national stability. Meanwhile, Christian prayer groups from various denominations will convene at the National Ecumenical Centre for a week-long prayer session focused on Nigeria’s challenges.
Efforts have been made to ensure wide participation, with outreach to the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), National Mosque leaders, and traditional authorities like the Sultan of Sokoto. Afolorunikan expressed hope that with unified prayer, Nigeria could move into 2025 with renewed purpose and optimism.
