Two prominent creatives, Baba Sadiq and actress Ebi Bright, may miss their chance to enter parliament next year after failing to secure a majority of votes in their respective constituencies following a re-collation of results by the Electoral Commission on Saturday.
Baba Sadiq, who was initially declared the winner of Okaikwei Central with 15,383 votes, narrowly edging out the incumbent MP Patrick Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with 14,949 votes, lost his lead after the re-collation.
In the updated results, Patrick Yaw Boamah retained his seat as the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, securing 21,099 votes, while Baba Sadiq finished with 19,368 votes.
Similarly, Ebi Bright, who had previously been announced the winner of the Tema Central seat after narrowly defeating Charles Forson of the NPP by just 118 votes, also saw a reversal. In the initial count, Bright garnered 18,539 votes to Forson’s 18,421.
The re-collation results, however, declared Charles Forson the winner with 18,870 votes, while Ebi Bright secured 18,815 votes. Independent candidate Fredrick Aniagyei received 229 votes.
