Goalkeeper Andre Onana of Cameroon has been dismissed from his nation’s World Cup squad following what is said to have been a heated argument with manager Rigobert Song.

The Inter Milan player and his coach Song are rumored to have quarreled about the goalkeeper’s style of play.

Devis Epassy was brought in to take his place. The decision was made just hours before Cameroon’s pivotal World Cup match against Serbia in Group G, which they drew 3-3.

Helena Condis Edo claims that despite efforts to mediate by the president of the Cameroon Football Federation and renowned striker Samuel Eto’o, Onana views his connection with the team as “irreversible.”

According to Marca, the argument started when Song yelled at the goalkeeper for playing too recklessly during a training session.

The manager disapproved of the keeper’s off-line movement and wanted him to play more traditionally. Later, it was determined that Onana should quit the team and stop competing in the competition.
